R&M is presenting the ZOONA closure at the FTTH Virtual Conference 2021. Gold sponsor of the world’s largest specialist congress for the broadband industry. Expanding the fibre optic network remains the key issue and is more urgent than ever before.
With the ZOONA closure from R&M, telecom companies can expand their Fiber-to-the-Home access networks faster.
Wetzikon, September 8, 2021. FO networks can be expanded even more quickly. This is something R&M wants to demonstrate at the FTTH Virtual Conference 2021. The FTTH Council Congress will take place on September 15 and 16. With 2,500 participants from 100 countries, it is the largest specialist congress in the broadband industry. R&M, the globally active developer and provider of cabling systems for high-quality network infrastructures, based in Wetzikon, Switzerland, is a gold sponsor and is participating with a virtual exhibition stand.
For the first time, R&M is presenting the ZOONA closure, which will expand R&M’s extensive portfolio for FTTH «Outside Plant Solutions». Thomas Ritz, R&M Market Manager Public Networks: «With this new generation of compact fiber optic exterior distributors, network providers make faster progress in broadband expansion, require less space, and can significantly save costs.» In addition to the classic underground installation in inspection shafts, the ZOONA closure is also primarily intended for above-ground applications. The rear of the splice closure features a ready-to-install wall holder. Technicians can use it to attach the housing to facades or masts in just a few minutes. The ready-to-use inlay with the well-known R&M fiber management can be inserted into the hood in a few simple steps. The newly developed, innovative «QIKseal» seals for the various cable entries are just as easy to attach. Assembling them does not require any special tools or expertise. This reduces the cost and time required for training and work preparation for installation companies.
Connecting housing estates more quickly
The entire ZOONA concept is based on rolling out FO broadband networks simply, quickly, and cost-effectively. With ZOONA closures, suppliers can set up the access network for entire districts or rural communities in just a few weeks. Due to their compact design, the splice closures are also suitable for connecting 5G locations to the FO network. Regional network operators and service providers as well as, for example, smart city project operators will use splice closures to set up or expand their own fiber optic networks with little investment and assembly effort.
FTTH more urgent than ever
«In view of the latest global developments, Fiber to the Home and the expansion of FO networks, in general, are becoming ever more urgent. We hope that the FTTH Virtual Conference 2021 will provide the right stimulus,» says Thomas Ritz. R&M also stresses: «Today, fiber optic connections are part of the basic supply – like water and electricity. The more we work, study and use digital services from home, the greater the demand.» R&M wants to contribute to making fiber optic networks available worldwide as quickly, comprehensively, and cost-effectively as possible.
Cornerstones of the FTTH program
Depending on the configuration, two-loop cables or twelve individual cables fit into a ZOONA closure. With the basic version splice and splitter trays, up to 48 fibers can be managed in the smallest configuration. R&M will soon be launching this first ZOONA model worldwide. Further ZOONA model variants for up to 144 or 288 fibers will follow. In addition to the ZOONA closure, R&M is exhibiting the PRIME-ODF main distributor system as well as the versatile Polaris boxes for fiber optic termination or fiber optic distribution outdoors to buildings, masts, and other locations at the FTTH Virtual Conference 2021. Together with the SYNO and ZOONA closure families, they are important cornerstones of the R&M product range for Fiber-to-the-Home networks.
